Somewhere someone is performing somewhere. This performance may be a photo, a movie, a sound, an environment, a song, a dance, a show, a speech, an action, an interaction, action. This unusual, non-repeatable, can not be defined. It can happen in galleries, theaters, a shipping container, a living room, or on the web. It opens up, responds to the viewer, the location, and the context in which it is located, and may also alert each other as it seeks new meaning. It will ask embarrassing questions, but refuse to respond to any tradition that has been accumulated. The audience can be one person, or thousands of people gathered in a space, or it may be a few unwitting passers-by, they just glanced over the art works that have not yet started. The performer may be dynamic, living, centered, but maybe they have not really been there. This is the live art, and above is the way it is.
