一优秀的中华民族,在历史上有许多伟大的物理发现和技术创造。我们智慧的祖先所发明的指南针,到现在仍舊是航海航空的工具;几何光学的原理在墨子的时代就已发现了;在宋朝初年发明的火箭法,比帝国主义国家重知道用火箭炮要早一千年。但是三千年封建制度的束缚,使劳动智慧的中华民族长期困陷在与封建势力和艰苦的生活搏门中,而没有机会去发展科学。明末清初西洋傅教士为了便利他们的传教工作,带来些片段的数理科学知识;在清代也有几本数理书籍的翻译。但是这些不成系统的科学传授未能传达到广大的人民群众中去,因此在中国的文化上和人民的生活上没有能够起多大作用。
An excellent Chinese nation has many great physical discoveries and technological creations in history. The compass invented by our wise ancestors is still the tool of maritime aviation till now; the principle of geometric optics has been discovered in the Mozi era; the rocket method invented in the early Song Dynasty was more important than the imperialist countries to know with rocket guns As early as a thousand years. But the shackles of the feudal system of three thousand years left the Chinese people with working wisdom stuck in long-term struggle against feudal forces and hardships, without the opportunity to develop science. In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, the Western priests brought some fragments of mathematical scientific knowledge in order to facilitate their missionary work. In the Qing Dynasty there were also several translations of mathematical books. However, these unsystematic scientific teaching can not be communicated to the broad masses of the people, so it does not play a significant role in the culture of China and the people’s life.
