南京紫金山农业中学的前身是孝陵卫中学,是1956年下半年才成立的,現只有一年級和二年級,学生419人,紫金山农业社的社員子女占50.9％,其余是市镇居民、工人、干部的子女。为了貫彻毛主席的教育方針,这个学校去年采取了两項措施:一是抓生产实习课,一是抓課外活动和周末劳动。他們从校园內的荒地上开出3.7亩地,种蔬菜,把紫金山农业社送給学校的4.5亩地,作实习农場,另外还組织学生养奶羊、养兔、养蜂、养鱼、养家禽……。他們自己编写生产实习課教材。一边讲,一边做。开始,教师不会上課,就请老农来上课。上课前,教师先去拜訪老农,听老农讲一遍,記下来。再告诉老农:应当先讲什么,后讲什么。上课时,老农讲,教师跟班做助教,课后就编成讲义初稿。老农上课勁头特別足,有时对学生說:“孩子們,你們这輩子真好啊!我有满肚子经验,就是说不出来。你們能文能武,我只能武不能文,将来全靠你們了!”这些話,使学生受了很大感动。
