1929年成立的上海艺术剧社(亦简称“艺术剧社”),是第一个在中国共产党领导下组织起来的戏剧团体。按照当事人之一夏衍的看法,“假如艺术剧社在中国话剧运动史上还值得一提的话,那么它的意义只在于这是中国共产党直接领导、并且首先提出了‘普罗列塔利亚戏剧’这一个口号”。①戏剧史作者往往引述相关原文来证明夏衍此言不虚,或者以此作为判断艺术剧社历史地位的依据。 Founded in 1929, Shanghai Art Theater (also referred to as “Art Theater”) was the first theater group to be organized under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party.
