In the study of land subsidence in Shanghai, it is important to determine the deformation dynamics of each soil layer. In the past, the relative change of the stratified targets buried in each soil layer was periodically measured manually. The disadvantage of this measurement method is that the interval time is long and the measurement accuracy and stability are affected by manual operation. In order to improve the accuracy, we have trial-produced a laser automatic indicator. This instrument measures the elevation variation of each stratified subscript relative to the bedrock subscript.
