Based on the aerodynamic layout design of a helicopter, some basic methods of selecting the helicopter aerodynamic shape, tail and tail rotor parameters and positions in the overall helicopter design are introduced. The corresponding wind tunnel test results are also introduced and compared with theoretical calculation results. The example shows that this method is very effective
