《三大纪律八项注意》的曲调来源已久,李鸿章和袁世凯在天津附近的小站练兵时,其军队就唱过。当时的歌名叫《皇帝练兵歌》,至于曲作者是谁已无从查考。辛亥革命后,这首军歌派生出两首同曲而不同词的歌曲。一首是在直系军队中流行的《民主立宪》,这首歌曲曾在鄂、豫、皖革命根据地被改为《土地革命成功了》。另一首在奉系军队中流行的是《大帅练兵》,这首歌曲主要是讲练兵的
