用裂变径迹法对临夏盆地王家山、东乡毛沟剖面红层中同生石膏及次生石膏矿物作了年龄测定，测定年龄为６．７９—２１．３９Ｍａ，推断其开始形成时代为中新世早期。
The fission track method was used to determine the age of gypsum and secondary gypsum mineral in the red layers of Wangjiashan and Dongxiang Gully sections in Linxia Basin. The age was 6.79-21.39Ma, suggesting that the age began to be Early Miocene .
