The strong short pulses of X-rays will for the first time reveal the structural and dynamic behavior of many proteins and viruses in a three-dimensional manner with atomic resolution. It will unlock the secrets of high-energy density plasma, which makes sense for the country’s nuclear storage management program; it will produce hot dense plasma thought to be present at the center of the big planet.
