International Issues of Children’s Literature The internationalization of children’s literature has brought its own international characteristics of children’s literature. In some ethnic and pluralistic countries, this international character is particularly significant. Anne Pelosky, director of the UNICEF Children’s Cultural Information Center, makes clear in her book The International Character in Children’s Literature the international issues in American children’s literature. The United States is a country with a large number of immigrants and can be said to be the melting pot of nations all over the world. Therefore, the international character in children’s literature is relatively strong. There are quite a few examples of foreign children’s writers or illustrators writing or illustrating for their children’s literature.
