The successful development of inertial fusion energy (IFE) requires solving many technical problems. Drives, Targets, Rooms, and Other Inertial Fusion Power Dissociation of power plant subsystems can solve many of these “off-line” installations. The main “integrated” device provides a regular basis of progress towards the final resolution. This integrated device is the National Ignition Facility (NIF) and the MJL System (L MJ). This article reviews the development of inertial fusion energy, the status of the projects, and the lessons to be learned from them
