我县金龟大队,地处鄂西南海拔930—1,100米的二高山区,主产包谷、洋芋。全大队有耕地1,067.7亩,其中坪(土曹)土465.3亩,占43.5％,坡土改梯地236.6亩,占22.2％,其余为岩坷地。每人平均耕地面积0.93亩。 这个大队是全省农业学大寨的先进单位之一。在毛主席无产阶级革命路线指引下,大队党支部带领群众大搞农田基本建设,同时认真落实农业“八字宪法”,实行科学种田,自1968年以来,粮食产量逐年上升,1970年平均亩产过800斤,1972年亩产超千斤,1974年亩产达到1,256斤,其中包谷平均
