Objective To investigate the safety of patients with early atherosclerotic coronary heart disease (PCHD) combined with diabetes mellitus after drug-eluting stent implantation. Methods From June 2012 to June 2014, 338 patients with PCHD were divided into 214 patients without diabetes mellitus group and 124 patients with diabetes mellitus group according to whether they had diabetes mellitus. All patients underwent drug-eluting stenting and recorded the clinical diagnosis and treatment data data. Patients were discharged for up to 2 years after telephone follow-up and out-patient examination to observe the occurrence of adverse events in patients with drug-eluting stents early and mid-term. Results There was no complication in the patients with diabetes mellitus and with drug-eluting stents in the diabetes mellitus group. There was no significant difference in the incidence of complications among the two groups. There was no significant difference between the two groups in the incidence of complications There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse events following elective stenting (all P> 0.05). Conclusions The early and mid-term postoperative safety of drug-eluting stents in patients with PCHD complicated with diabetes mellitus is not affected by the presence or absence of diabetes mellitus in patients with PCHD, and is consistent with the non-diabetic patients with PCHD. However, its long-term safety remains to be further studied.
