2009年7月16日,中大开着自己的电动客车JLY6110SE,从北京出发,经京沈高速,到唐山市迁安镇,再返回北京,全程452公里,行驶了约7小时30分。中大籍以此示范运营,证明自己的电动车“一次充电续航可达500公里”绝非“吹嘘”。鉴于目前国内同类技术一次充电续航能力仅为200多公里,国外汽车发达国家也没在此方面研究出现突破性成果,中大的“500公里”就引燃了更深一层的讨论风暴——若真如中大宣传的那样,这可是实现了国际领先,是中国汽车在国际汽车业界一次扬眉吐气的技术突破。正如某媒体在中大示范当日新闻发布会上所讲“我们可能见证了一个吉尼斯记录”。一时间公众对于此事件关注热度持续上涨。
