煤炭是关系国民经济发展命脉的重要战略性资源,但是位于地下深处的地层及煤层由于长时间受到地质作用的影响,均出现一定程度的变形、断裂或位移;再加上应力集中、断层构造中断层瓦斯积聚等,都造成了一定的安全隐患,构建复杂地质三维模型并进行可视化研究成为当前需要解决的一大关键问题。提高煤矿开采经济效益的有效途径就是实现煤炭开采的科技化和信息化,而煤炭开采科技化、信息化实现的关键就是用三维可视化的图形效果将煤矿的主采区域和主采煤层形象且直观地表达出来。
