自1970年开始,我省开展了5406抗生菌肥的群众性科学实验活动。义乌县农资公司,在示范推广中发现5406对早稻催芽有一定的效果,遂于1974年与江弯公社春联大队合作进行试验,证实了采用5406抗生菌对早稻进行拌种堆制催芽,能有效地提高发芽率和秧苗素质,具有芽壮、芽齐等优点。在低温多雨的条件下,还能减轻烂芽、烂秧,提高成秧率。为了进一步探索5406对早稻催芽的效果及其作用机理,我们于1975年至1978年曾多次进行试验,其主要处理有:(1)温水淋种催芽(下称温水催芽);(2)糠土拌种堆制催芽(下称糠土催芽),即每百斤早稻种子用统糠3—5斤、细土40—60斤
