This article can be said to be the sequel or sister to “I am in the Beautiful Japan” (published in the 3rd issue of 1979). It is not only an appreciation of Japanese classical literature, but also a Japanese aesthetic thesis, but also a light and pure prose. By graceful, beautiful and fluent writing, and from time to time, the author inserts chorus, haiku, and narrative into words, naturally bringing the reader into a “kingdom of beauty of Japanese literature”. Together with “I am Beautiful Japan” and “The Beauty of Japanese Literature,” this essay constitutes Kawabata Yasunari’s aesthetic theory and artistic conception and completes the writer’s unique aesthetic system. This article is translated from “Kawabata Kangsuquan Complete Works” Volume 28, Xinchaophos 1982 edition. The illustrations in the text are pen-drawn by the PEN participants.
