液力偶合器是以液体作为介质而联接原动机与工作机的液力传动元件。它在能量的输入、输出结构之间没有直接的刚性联接和相对摩擦件,而是通过液体“键”来传递转矩,因而这种液力动力“键”允许主、从动轮之间有滑差。液力联轴器具有比一般联轴器独有的特点:
