Narrator: Over one third of Americans aren’t just overweight – they’re obese. Tonight, The Biggest Loser will welcome 11 teams of families who are the epitome of[缩影] that statistic. And their
journey won’t start at the Biggest Loser Gym –
it will start in their hometowns with a public
  weigh-in[称体重].
Daris: Being in front of so many people that mean so much to me, and takin’ off my shirt, showin’ them what I’ve become, is one of the scariest things I’ve ever done in my life. I know they’re just waitin’ to see how much I weigh.
My starting weight is 346 pounds. I will do everything I can to make you proud, and I will make myself proud, too. So we’re gonna do this together, and I’m gonna do this with all of your support. And I look forward to seein’ you again in six months, 150 / 160 pounds lighter than this.
Michael: I’m Michael, this is my mom Maria, and we’re the fun-loving Italians from Chicago.
Maria: We’re a family of five, and we’re all pretty much overweight. Italians, we eat good food, but we eat a lot of it.
I feel responsible for Michael’s weight because I have just taught my son to love food, and it hurts me bad because Michael’s so full of life[充满生气]. You know, I see him falling asleep after five minutes sitting on a chair, you see him stop breathing and…and I really could never live with myself if I lose my son. That’s why we have to do this together – we have to get healthy.
Michael: I want to meet, you know, the woman of my dreams and get married. I wanna have kids, and that’s just not gonna happen for me looking like this or
feeling this way. I feel like because I can’t love myself, that nobody else would love me. I would never even think, in my worst nightmares, that I would be this big! I got such a long way to go! Even if I lost 200 pounds, even if I lost another overweight person, I’m still gonna be overweight! But…but I’m ready. I’m so ready.
I want to do this right now because I’m saving my life. For other people, they’re changing their life. This opportunity is saving my life. I’m gonna save my life. I wanna live.

Dr. Huizenga: I guess you guys read your medical
test? Michael, we calculated, had 303 pounds of
excess[额外的] hydrated[含水的] fat that he’s carrying around day in day out[一天又一天]. We want to simulate[模拟]
on a normal weight man what Michael’s feeling like.
Bob (Trainer): I’m gonna be the guinea pig[
  Michael: Poor guy.
Bob: I know. I’m just thinkin’ about my knees.
Assistant: I gonna slide[使滑动] this over your head.
  Dr. Huizenga: That’s 70.
Bob: Oh, my gawd! It’s a lot. Wait, how much more are you putting on me? ’Cause I think…I mean, I think we’re done.
Dr. Huizenga: This is 200. He’s got 303 pounds of excess fat. We’ve got 100 more pounds to go.
Bob: Are you kidding me?! Oh, crap!
  Assistant: How’re you feeling?
Bob: I’m feeling just friggin’ miserable right now!
Michael: As we’re adding more and more weight onto Bob, I realized this is embarrassing[令人尴尬的]. What have I done to myself?
  Dr. Huizenga: Michael…
Bob: I’m not even at your weight right now, and I am miserable. How are you living like this?
Michael: I don’t know any different.
Bob: This is normal for you.
Michael: It’s always been how I felt.
Bob: Holy crap! (standing up) Oh, my hips[臀] are hurting now. Oh! Oh, my gawd! Michael, I don’t know how you’re doin’ it. I don’t know how you’re carrying all this weight every single day, Michael. We’ve gotta get your life back, ’cause this is not a life to live. This is just a burden every single day. I get to take this off in a few minutes. This is gonna take you and I – months. You’ve gotta be wanting this more than you’ve ever wanted anything ever, ’cause this is a lot of work.
Michael: It’s eye-opening to see Bob in so much pain. I’m thinking, “I am that guy.” I need to get rid of this weight once and for all[一劳永逸地].

Andrea: We’re waiting in the gym, and Bob and Jill walk in.
Bob: Well, look what we have here!
  Group: (laugh) Hi!
Bob: Look, our kids are growin’ up, Jillian! Our kids are growin’ up!
Jillian (Trainer): Oh, wow, you’re back in singles!
Bob: We’re back to singles. Now it’s all about what you do. You don’t have a team to protect you. It’s all about what you’re here for, why you wanted to be here, and how hard you’re going to push yourself out of the box to stay here.
Jillian: Singles brings a whole different set of issues
into the house. All the alliances[联盟] start to go
haywire, and all of a sudden it’s really “game on.” And people are getting closer to the end of this, and it gets a little more cutthroat[无情的], and insecurities[不安全感]
come out, and you really start to see people’s true
  colors when it’s singles.
Andrea: Lance went home, obviously, from the elimination[淘汰], but that doesn’t mean that there is no more Red Team. Come on in!
  Melissa: I’m back!
  Jillian: What happened?
Bob: Here’s Melissa in the gym, red shirt on, everyone’s all happy, hugging. All I gotta say is, now that Melissa’s back in this house, it’s gonna keep everybody else in that house on their toes[
  Oh…what happened?
Melissa: It was a challenge, 1000 steps.
  Jillian: Wow!
Melissa: But you know what? We’re not done. Look.
  Victoria: I’m here!
  (Everyone is excited.)
Jillian: Victoria walked in. It was unbelievable, and this woman never had a chance here, and now she does.
Bob: You finally get your chance here.
Jillian: It felt like suddenly the world was right again.
Bob: What did you have to do to get in?
  Victoria: They voted me on.
  Jillian: What happened? They did?
  Victoria: They voted me on.
Bob: Victoria got voted in. These people at our house, they’re that good. Victoria could be a threat in this house. That’s not what these people were thinkin’ about. It’s like they gave Victoria a gift. And let me tell ya[即you], Victoria deserved that gift.
  Jillian: So, singles.
Bob: Okay…right, so I think it gets very interesting
with singles, because now it’s all about what you do. It’s all about the efforts that you put in every single day. When we’re here, when we’re not here, it’s the drive that is inside of each and everyone of you that will decide who’s gonna be the next Biggest
  Loser.
Jillian: Okay, so guys, everybody jump on a machine. Let’s get this party started!

Our plans have all gone haywire since the rail strike.

Alison (Host): This journey is a long way from over, because while this chapter will be ending soon, it’s the rest of your life that you have committed to. Not only do our six remaining contestants have a new look, they are celebrating a new outlook[看法]
on life, and none of them could have done it without their families. And that is why all of you are here
tonight. We’re all proud to walk this road together to
celebrate this night with you. That’s what
makeovers[新打扮] are all about. It’s my favorite part of the season, because it’s finally that moment where you get to appreciate who you are now.
So tonight, I think the celebration will be complete with a little music. She’s sold over 27 million albums. Please give a warm welcome to the Grammy Award
winning singer, songwriter, actress and author! I’d like to introduce you to Ashanti!
Ashanti: You guys are the finalists. Congratulations! Let’s have a round of applause[全场掌声] for yourselves.
That’s amazing. It’s amazing. And I just wanna put a positive thought in the air: just to remember to always shine, and to always just…no matter what people say, and no matter how hard it gets sometimes, and when you feel like quitting, and when you feel like giving up, you gotta just…you know, you gotta buckle down[埋头于], and get your feet down in to it, and you gotta just shine.

The government has committed itself to improving health education.
She’s very committed to her job.
The company is firmly committed to its new project.
