As a highly persistent and extremely refractory organic pollutant, perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) has attracted more and more researchers’ attention in recent years. This article from the PFOS transport and metabolism, neurotoxicity and its possible mechanism of toxicity (including affecting the growth and differentiation of nerve cells and brain development, affecting the formation of synapses and plasticity, affecting the production of neurotransmitters, affecting the ion channel Of stability, triggering neuroinflammation, causing neuronal oxidative stress) and other aspects of the recent studies on the neurotoxicity of PFOS are reviewed.
