我们曾坚信，人定胜天。可当我们盲目乐观，不遵守客观规律时，火魔却乘虚而入，制造了一起又一起的群死群伤事故：新疆克拉玛依友谊馆大火、辽宁阜新艺苑歌舞厅火灾、河南焦作天堂录像厅大火、洛阳东都商厦大火等等，一条条生命在火中香消玉殒，令人扼腕。这些火灾，大多是在建筑物中发生的，也就是这些不同封闭性的建筑，给人们的逃生自救设置了障碍，让许多人走入误区，而悔之晚矣。
