In this paper, blood was taken from umbilical cord plasma immediately after selective caesarean section and prostaglandin E (PGE), prostaglandin F (PGF), and 13,14-dihydro-15-ketoprostaglandin F (PGFM) were measured. As a result, the level of PGE in the umbilical vein and the level of PGF and PGFM in the umbilical artery and veins were significantly higher after vaginal delivery than after selective caesarean section. Concentrations of PGE and PGF in infant cord plasma and serum are higher than in maternal blood, whereas PGE is higher in umbilical vein. PGE is derived from the placenta during fetal circulation and controls the hemodynamics of the fetus and placenta and maintains the tension of the arterial catheter. Therefore, placental secretion of PGE, fetal survival is very important. As the concentration of PGE in the sheep’s blood circulation began to rise shortly before delivery, and in human pregnancy, childbirth and vaginal delivery after vaginal arterial blood PGE concentration differences may be compared with the labor itself and late pregnancy
