Raising women’s political, social and economic status and affecting their health through internal empowerment is the tenet of women’s health promotion proposed by the Cairo Conference on Population and Development and Beijing’s Fourth World Conference on Women. There are two meanings: one is to promote the mainstream of women’s health and the other is to promote the empowerment practice of women’s individual and group in the field of health. For more than 10 years, the Chinese government and non-governmental organizations have tried their best to promote these two aspects in the current society in various ways and means. In the meantime, there are gratifying achievements and experiences, as well as blind spots and misunderstandings, but also new challenges.
