沈尹默是海内外公认的20世纪中国书坛泰斗,《辞海》收录的清朝以后的书法家仅他一人。他也是五四新文化运动的先驱、学者、诗人和教育家。毛泽东主席曾数次接见过他,对他的工作和艺术成就给予了高度评价。《中南海收藏书画集》的第一页乃是沈尹默写给毛泽东的书法。1962年周恩来总理曾专门请沈尹默书丹毛泽东的《沁园春》挂在中南海办公室和自家卧室。沈尹默(1883-1971),原名沈君默,号秋明,祖籍浙江吴兴。1905年沈尹默与胞弟沈兼士同赴日本留学。归国后始在浙江高等学校(现浙江大学)任教,1913年起任北京大学教授。1929年辞教职任河北省教育厅厅长,1930年受聘为故宫博物院古物馆专门委员,专门负
Shen Yinmo is recognized as the 20th century Chinese calligraphy masters at home and abroad, “Ci Hai” included after the Qing Dynasty calligrapher only one person. He is also a pioneer, scholar, poet and educator of the May Fourth New Culture Movement. Chairman Mao Tse-tung met him on several occasions and spoke highly of his work and artistic accomplishments. The first page of “Zhongnanhai Collection of Paintings and Calligraphy” is a calligraphy written by Shen Yinmo to Mao Zedong.
