In the past, in the design of ballet moves, dance designers to consider both the human body and music. However, Moses Cunningham has changed this practice. Instead of using music as an indispensable element, Moses Cunningham just designed the dance through a random process, just as it is to decide the order of activities by coin-tossing. Currently, the 71-year-old modern dance master is exploring another area yet to be developed. He was the first person to design dances with computers, using a new approach to software composition called “life structure.” Starting on March 12, the test, named Tracker, will be performed by Macy Cunningham Dancing Company at the New York City Performing Center for two weeks.
