1993年5月3日,中国政府通过外交途径向国际展览局提交了我国决定加入国际展览局组织及遵守《国际展览公约》、1972年议定书的正式声明,5月27日,国际展览局照会中国政府,确认中国正式提交的声明,并同时接纳我国为国际展览局的第46个正式成员国。同年12月5日,在巴黎总部召开的国际展览局第114届代表大会上,中国被增选为国际展览局信息委员会成员国。至此,我国具备了申办世界博览会的必要条件。 On May 3, 1993, the Chinese government submitted to the Bureau of International Exposition through diplomatic channels an official statement that China decided to join the International Bureau of Exhibitions and abide by the “International Convention on Exhibitions” and the 1972 Protocol. On May 27th, the International Exhibition Bureau paid attention to China. The government confirmed the formal submission of China’s statement and accepted China as the 46th official member of the Bureau of International Exposition. On December 5th of the same year, at the 114th Congress of the International Bureau of Exhibitions held at the headquarters of Paris, China was added as a member of the International Exhibitions Bureau Information Committee. At this point, China has the necessary conditions to bid for the World Expo.
