通过在田间逆境条件下选择优株和优株系 (克隆 ) ,使优株系在隔离条件下自由授粉 ,培育了 4个暂定名为 98- 18、98- 2 0、98- 2 1和 98- 2 2的新品系。在田间条件和人工高温条件下对新品系的成坪特性和耐热性进行了鉴定 ,98- 19是色泽深绿的矮生型新品系 ,除在夏季的抗性略为逊色外 ,其余季节的综合表现名列前茅 ;另一些新品系 ,尤其是 98- 2 2在越夏性、耐热性、抗病性等抗性、生长速度和叶片色泽上都与对照 (Triplea ,国外引进新品种 )相当 ,同为优良品种 (系 )。在上海的自然和生产条件下用自繁的高羊茅新品系种子建坪 ,其成坪质量与用美国种子建坪的质量间无显著差异 ,但自繁种子本身的质量不及从国外购进的种子。自育的新品系要能大面积推广应用 ,还有待于我国草坪草种子生产体系的建立以及种子生产和加工技术的提高
