Although Hong Kong has a prosperous economy, it has a large population of less people. Since the late 1960s, Hong Kong has exposed the traffic problems caused by population growth. To solve this urban problem, the first subway was born in 1979 in Hong Kong. After nearly 30 years of expansion and merger, the MTR has now reached a total length of 91 kilometers and has eight lines (Hong Kong Island Line, Tsuen Wan Line, East Tunnel Crossing, Kwun Tong Line, Tseung Kwan O Line, Tung Chung Line, Airport Express Line, Disneyland s), 53 stations (14 of which are transit stations). In Hong Kong, the subway is not only the most convenient and time-saving means of transport, it is a microcosm of the entire urban culture.
