Case reports of lung disease among indium-exposed workers in Japan, the USA, and China over the past two decades have raised public concern about the toxicity of indium and indium compounds. Occupational exposure to indium compounds can result in potentially fatal indium lung disease, which is characterized by pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP) and may progress to fibrosis, with or without emphysema[1].
