The authors describe a new copper-containing ring IUD, Mer-chant’s Copper Coil (MCC). The MCC is a ring made of polyethylene (1.8 cm) on which a copper wire (0.2 mm) is wound with a copper surface area of 251-2 mm. MCC remain in the center of the uterus, so that a wide range of endometrial and copper surface contact, which can effectively prevent intrauterine or extrauterine pregnancy. There is overlap in the end of the MCC in the uterine cavity to allow it to be adjusted for any uterine cavity. No protruding ends of the MCC reduce the risk of perforation when the uterus contracts strongly. Placement can be used when the 3.6mm diameter tube placer, the MCC was linear into the uterine cavity. To select an IUD that is appropriate for the size of the uterine cavity, uterine size is measured with a Kurz uterine cavity gauge or Hasson wing probe prior to placement.
