The article summarizes the development status and trend of aerospace functional composites, including various types of functional composites and their main application fields. The thermal protection composite materials currently used in the aerospace field are highlighted respectively, including spacecraft thermal protection systems and materials, anti-ablation heat protection composite materials, gradient function composite materials and their composition, mechanism of action and main applications. The final discussion shows that the development trend of functional composite materials is high performance, multi-functional and low cost.
