The importance of early diagnosis of acoustic neuromas has been more fully recognized in recent years. Early diagnosis is one of the prerequisites for ensuring the best surgical outcome, because not only can operative mortality be reduced to near zero, but postoperative residual symptoms can also be minimized; in addition to preserving other functions, it is vulnerable to damage. The facial nerve and its function, as well as the auditory nerve (especially the cochlear nerve) itself can be better preserved, to achieve the ideal level of complete cure for patients and basically no sequelae. This kind of good curative effect is very difficult to be achieved in advanced acoustic neuroma. At present, only a few large total advanced acoustic neuroma resection preserves the facial nerve and auditory nerve.
