In the past, mode matching techniques have been successfully used to analyze rectangular and circular waveguides with lateral inhomogeneities. The generalization of this method for the analysis of the discontinuity of the conic waveguide shows that it has problems that are difficult to converge due to the characteristics of the truncated cone mode. To illustrate this issue, this article will discuss in detail the connection of a light-walled cylindrical waveguide to a corrugated cone horn.
