中国人认识写生的意义缘起于认识西方的科学文明。当薛福成、康有为看到西方古典油画时发出惊叹,并非他们不懂中国绘画的美妙,而是感到由于视觉的逼真而带来对心灵的震撼。回顾往昔,将写生引入美术教育,可以看成对传统中国艺术变革的开端。李叔同在两江师范学校带领潘天寿等一班学生课余出外风景写生,在课堂用铅笔作实物写生,有时仅是一片秋叶。虽然如潘天寿这样的学生不能理解,但写生的基础课训练被贯彻到20世纪以来的中国美术教育全过程之中。然而写生被引入中国水墨画远不如在油画中那样理直气壮。虽然把写生强调为“美术
The significance of Chinese people’s understanding of sketch originated from the understanding of Western scientific civilization. When Xue Fucheng and Kang Youwei marveled at the Western classical paintings, it was not that they did not understand the beauty of Chinese painting but felt that they were shocked by the realistic nature of their eyes. Recalling the past, the introduction of sketching art education, can be seen as the beginning of the transformation of traditional Chinese art. Li Shu-tung led a group of students such as Pan Tianshou at Skill School in the Liangjiang Normal School to sketches pictures of life outside of school and use pencils for writing in class, sometimes just a piece of autumn leaves. Although such students as Pan Tianshou can not understand, the basic lesson training of sketch is implemented throughout the whole process of Chinese art education since the 20th century.
