This article describes an interactive program for generating fan characteristic curves as part of the Underground Environment Analysis and Management System (VentSIM) developed by Imperial College. The fan characteristics in the ventilation network analysis are discussed, and a new method to express fan characteristic curve is introduced. The new technique is applied in the system to avoid the problems caused by the curve fitting. It is better to describe the fan characteristic curve in a linear manner rather than the Cartesian coordinate polynomial curve fitting method. The fan characteristics are described by a number of defined discrete lines and two lines distributed in the high-pressure zone and the low-pressure zone. Apply this method, eliminating the network iteration errors that may occur. Integrated interactive fan characteristic curve generator completely mouse-driven, can handle 30 turbines.
