19世纪 70年代至甲午战前 ,赴沪的江浙移民呈现出季节性流动的特点。他们多在农闲期奔赴上海谋生 ,又在农忙时返乡务农。这一季节性移民群体的形成存在着多方面的原因 :一为城乡流动过程中制度基础的松动 ;二为江浙农民收入降低和农闲期的客观存在 ;三为上海城市经济以及职业的不稳定因素。在上述因素的综合作用下 ,1 9世纪后期的上海社会出现了季节性移民 ,这标志着上海乃至中国开始发生了人口流动的近代性转变 ,即农村人口向城市中心的转移
From the 1870s to the Sino-Japanese War, the migrations between Jiangsu and Zhejiang in Shanghai showed a seasonal flow. They mostly went to Shanghai for their livelihood during their leisure time and went back to rural areas for farming while busy. There are many reasons for the formation of this seasonal immigrant group: one is the loosening of the system foundation in the process of urban-rural flow; the other is the objective existence of the reduction of income and the idle period of farmers in Jiangsu and Zhejiang; and the third is the instability of Shanghai’s urban economy and occupation . In the combined effect of the above factors, seasonal immigration emerged in Shanghai in the late 19th century, marking the beginning of a modern shift in population mobility in Shanghai and even in China, that is, the transfer of rural population to urban centers
