Evoked potentials are bioelectrical responses of the central nervous system to extrinsic stimuli. Each evoked potential showed a series of successive waves, the wave shape, amplitude and latency reflect the sensory information in the central nervous system conduction and processing. In the past 10 years, the basic and clinical applications of three major evoked potentials, namely visual evoked potential (VEP), somatosensory evoked potential (SEP) and auditory evoked potential (AEP), have made rapid progress. In the research and examination of central Nervous system function and hearing, visual function and so on show a broad prospect. As a noninvasive sensorial function test, evoked potentials often reveal abnormalities that can not be found by common methods. Their value has been recognized and affirmed and has been widely used in the clinical diagnosis of neurology, pediatrics, ophthalmology and otology , Patient care, brain and spinal cord function, and hearing and visual function of the study? Check. This article describes the application of VEP, SEP and AEP in pediatric clinical practice.
