菲律宾位于西太平洋,是东南亚的一个群岛国家。群岛由7100多个岛屿组成,很多都尚未开发。
The Philippines is the best place to go if you are tired of Southeast Asian beach hotspots like Bali and southern Thailand. It’s not hard to see why. The country has more than 7000 islands, most having at least two great beaches. Here are a few areas that I like.
El Nido has dozens of beaches, but they are crowded and cost a lot of money to get to by water. Not to worry, DIY explorers have several suggestions. A 20-minute bicycle ride south, the best sunsets in the area are at Marimegmeg Beach, also known as Las Cabanas Beach, where you can put your feet into the sand and order suitably fruity drinks. Forty-five minutes north of town by motorbike, Nacpan Beach is perfect for swimming. Another fine choice is 7 Commandos Beach, which is on the mainland southwest of El Nido, but you can get there only by boat.
Cebu, the banana-shaped island is easy to get to. You can take international flights to the Visayas’ largest city, Cebu City. Near the airport on Mactan Island you’ll find a lot of high-end, family-styled hotels. The beaches on Mactan are nothing special, so hire a boat to take you out to islands in the Bohol Strait, where you can enjoy yourself on the beaches with white sand.
If you want to visit several world-class beaches in one short trip, look no further than southern Negros. Fly into Dumaguete, the capital of Negros Oriental, and you are within an hour of Apo Island. It’s a top dive site and backpacker-friendly. Tambobo Bay and Siquijor Island have bone-white beaches and nice but cheap places to stay. Four hours away by bus, you’ll feel like you’ve reached the end of the Earth at Sipalay’s Sugar Beach.
If you really want to do something crazy, check out a map of the country, point to an island, and go. You won’t miss finding a lonely beach that few tourists have stepped on before, and that will be your own heaven.
