With the development of thin and flexible optical fibers, the application of laser in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases has its future. This article examines acute and chronic laser-induced vascular responses in the rabbit model of atherosclerosis. Methods: Seven rabbits weighing 2.8 to 5 kg were fed 3 to 5 months of diet with 2% cholesterol, resulting in aortic atherosclerosis. 5 rabbits underwent sternotomy.
