Over the past decade, great progress has been made in sediment hydraulics, especially in the basic mechanics of sediment transport, erosion and sedimentation. However, it has been discovered that in many ways, engineers are not enough tools to solve the sediment problem. The U.S. Reclamation Week has often encountered problems with sediment in projects that have been and are planned to be implemented. These include the sampling techniques and computational methods for sediment, the design of stable soil channels, the stability of the existing channels after they have been upset by natural conditions, the sediment deposition in reservoirs and their impact on water loss, the upstream river bed As well as the reduction of the downstream riverbed, as well as the methods of removing sediment into the channels of irrigation and hydropower plants. In solving these problems, all the available knowledge and inspiration about sediment transport, erosion and sedimentation have been used. However, research and development is needed in almost every aspect, especially in the sense of increasing the reliability and scope of application of the various formulas and of developing practical solutions that can be used to solve various problems. This paper points out some problems that need to be studied more by the Bureau of Reclamation in terms of sediment hydraulics experienced in their work.
