霉菌在自然界是低等植物中之一大族,已知约8~12万种,共分四大纲:藻状菌纲、子囊菌纲、担子菌纲和半知菌纲。在四大纲中半知菌纲种类最多。因为体积小、孢子繁殖最大,为引起人类过敏最重要的菌类。霉菌引起呼吸道过敏的途径主要是吸入空气中飘散的孢子,而霉菌中含有致敏性的抗原物质。当致敏病人吸入相应的霉菌后,往往引起呼吸道过敏症状如过敏性鼻炎、支气管哮喘等。因此,探明空气中飘散的霉菌种类及数量分布,对指导过敏病人的诊断与治疗有重要意义。
