铜山铜矿选矿厂生产用水贮水池的液面标高与一级尾砂泵站砂泵进料口标高之差为76米,而该砂泵的实际扬程仅59米,生产用水的自压已大大超过砂泵的扬程,完全可以用作砂泵轴承的水封用水。自1983年5月起逐步将五个砂泵站的高压水泵取消,全部砂泵轴承水封用水均由生产用水系统接通,并在砂泵轴套靠叶轮一端车制反向螺纹,取得了很好的水封效果。按照1986年实际运转时数计算,一年节省水封泵用电21万多度,节约用水8万多吨(节约用电8万度),减少维修费用4000元,合计一年节约3万多元。
