美国学者拉塞尔·雅各比(Russell Jacoby)隶属老左派知识分子,多年来的研究一直以知识分子问题为关注焦点,著述颇丰,很有代表性。但他最重要的三部知识分子理论著作《最后的知识分子》、《乌托邦之死》和《不完美的图像》近年才被引入国内。可以发现,在他的知识分子理论中,乌托邦精神的消亡、多元文化主义的泛滥和知识分子的学院化是贯穿始终的三条最重要理论线索。本文正试图通过厘清此三者,来展现雅各比对于知识分子研究的贡献。 The American scholar Russell Jacoby belongs to the old leftist intellectuals. Over the years, his research has always focused on the issue of intellectuals. His writings are rather rich and representative. However, his most important theoretical work “The Last Intellectuals,” “Deaths of Utopia” and “Imperfect Images” of the three intellectuals were introduced into China only in recent years. It can be found that in his theory of intellectuals, the demise of utopian spirit, the proliferation of multiculturalism and the academicization of intellectuals are the three most important theoretical clues throughout. This article is trying to show Jacoby’s contribution to the study of intellectuals by clarifying these three.
