In this article, the author discusses the past, present and future development of prestressed concrete in the field of building construction. This article analyzes the economic effects of using prestressed concrete in certain structures. This paper describes the principles and special issues related to shear design, complete and partial continuity, external preload, deflection considerations, expansion joints, continuous design and installation. This paper also studies the actual performance of prestressed concrete, especially in the development of large span structures and special frame systems, reducing the minimum height of the frame structure, accelerating the construction speed, saving materials, and reducing the cost. Prestressed concrete has significant advantages in reducing the weight of buildings and developing large-span structures.
