The twentieth century is coming to an end. Looking back at the beginning of the new century, several major scientific theories silently opened up a new window on human exploration of the world and itself. Who could then think of the changes that followed? When in the middle of the last century, in 1859, Darwin’s “Origin of Species” and Marx’s Critique of Political Economy, science and evolution as the sun rises are almost invincible. “Superman” Nietzsche screams, “God is dead!” At that time, the world’s tide of pursuit of capital, technology, markets, and labor (in other words, profits) was widespread. An East Indian company swallowed the Indian subcontinent. A British delegation came to China to find a way out and thought that artillery and warships could effortlessly swallow this mighty heavenly kingdom. Everything in the world seems to follow the foresight of science. But where is the science going? Will it be used for capital, killing, eating, and then destroying human beings?
