Recent studies have found that the tumor suppressor gene pten with phosphatase activity plays an important role in maintaining chromatin and genome stability. PTEN can maintain the genome stability in both phosphatase-dependent and non-dependent ways. The phosphatase-dependent regulatory mechanism of PTEN is mainly through the PI3K / AKT pathway; the phosphatase-independent regulatory mechanism of PTEN mainly through protein interactions; there are also some unknown ways.
