In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the institute, the Japan Institute of Geological Survey displayed at the end of 1982 three specimen of Antarctic meteorites that have made a big splash in the world over the last ten years in Japan’s herbarium, attracting the utmost attention of international cosmological scientists. The three meteorites on display were collected by the joint Japanese-American team in Sweden in the Allan Mountains and Deric Peaks in 1976 and 1980. The largest piece of three meteorites ALH769 weight 407 kg, classification belongs to L6 type. After spacecraft (meteorite precursor) irradiated by cosmic rays, its surface is shallower than 1 to 2 meters, due to cosmic rays produce a variety of nuclear species, but the depth of more than 2 meters
