This article describes some of the principles of using a radiation microstrip resonator as a unit for frequency sweep antenna arrays. These resonators are connected in series. In addition to the phase shift produced by the transmission line, the antenna array gives a scanned main beam due to the phase shift in the resonator. The experimental results agree well with the theory in the X-band and show that the main beam scan angle can be up to ± 30 ° and the 3dB beam width can be less than 10 ° for a frequency change of ± 300 MHz. The directivity is 14.7 dB and the gain is 8.1 dB. A compromise between efficiency and scan angle or a more appropriate amplitude distribution improves efficiency.
