海洋仪器测量海洋深度需用恒弹材料。过去,常用的恒弹材料为3J53。北京钢铁研究院新近推荐了该院研制的铌基恒弹材料。为了对比这两种材料在海水中的耐蚀性能,在青岛海洋用钢试验站做了全浸挂片试验。全浸挂片在青岛小麦岛附近。海水水质干净,无污染,试片所挂吊笼在海底石层上0.8至1m处。吊笼上部低潮位距水面0.5至1m,高潮位距水面4.7至5.2m。海生物有藤壶、牡蛎等。海水流速10至30cm/秒。
