As early as the mid-19th century, plethysmography was used to study the functional status of limbs and vessels of certain organs. In 1846 Piegu first created the first human upper-body plethysmograph, and after continuous improvement, the plethysmography method gradually became more sensitive and perfect. The basic principle of the plethysmography is to place a part of a human or animal body in a closed container and observe the state of the vasomotor in the changes of the limb volume under various conditions or to exert a certain pressure on the limbs To block the venous return, without affecting the arterial blood flow, recording changes in limb volume, so as to speculate unit time
